Villa Sorrento
Looking at the sea, the sky and the impressive Vesuvio, the 1950s villa is immersed in the same historical garden of the Hotel Parco dei Principi, the fascinating project by Gio Ponti.
Inspired by the Master’s nearby project and also by the outstanding context, our work focused on emboding the surrounding’s beauty through a new spaces’ design, and a regardful choice of materials and colours.
By opening new windows and removing many dividing walls, the ground floor is now an open space that easily greets the garden. It also includes many functions in a flexible way: through sliding and folding wooden doors, you can easily adjust the space to familiar or formal configurations, hiding the entrance, the kitchen or others.
The celadon ceramic fragmented floor, handcrafted in Vietri, refers to the typical stone outdoor flooring, offering a continued feeling with the surrounding nature.
The ceramic on the upper floor features light blue colour and wavy shaped tiles, evoking the sea and the sky where you can feel bathed

As Ponti once said: ‘Blue sky. blue sea. blue island, blue tiles, green plants, princess’ feet garlanded with roses, dancer’s trail’.
This house’s character is that of a vacation, where each day is fulfilled with a relaxing atmosphere by exploring a deep dialogue between contemporary design, functionality and a dreamy mediterranean influence.
With this project we aspire to emphasize the privilege of living in a ’vacation mood’ as daily life, looking for a dialogue between contemporary design, functionality and a dreamy mediterranean influence.
